    Description

Premium roll ups look almost identical to standard ones in a photograph. The difference is in the three parts a photograph does not show: the base, the mechanism and the cassette. If a stand is set up more than a handful of times, that is where the money should go.

What the extra cost actually buys

    • A heavier, wider base. The most common roll up failure is not breakage, it is the stand tipping. A premium base is deeper front-to-back and heavier, so it stays upright in a doorway or an exhibition aisle.

    • A damped mechanism. A cheap retractor snaps the graphic back in and creases it at the edge. A damped spring pulls it in slowly and evenly, which is why a premium stand still looks flat after fifty setups.

    • A cassette designed to be reopened. On a budget stand the graphic is effectively permanent. On these the cassette opens cleanly, so the same frame carries a new print each campaign.

    Six frames, silver and black

    • Iconic and Iconic Black — 85 to 120 cm. Slim rectangular cassette, the most neutral of the six; the one that disappears and lets the graphic do the work.

    • Salvo — 85 to 120 cm. Curved cassette with visible end caps, a more designed look for a showroom or a permanent lobby position.

    • Deluxe — 85 to 150 cm. The heaviest base in the range and the widest option; the choice for a windy entrance or a wide backdrop.

    • Fondo and Fondo Black — 85 to 150 cm. Wide flat base with a low profile, so nobody trips over it. The usual answer for high-traffic retail.

Silver or black. Silver is the default and disappears against most walls. Black frames read as more premium against light backgrounds and photograph better in dark venues — worth the choice when the stand appears in the event photography.

    Widths and viewing distance

85 cm for close reading at a desk or counter. 100–120 cm for a room where people stand back. 150 cm — Deluxe and Fondo only — for filling a backdrop or replacing a wall panel. Wider is not automatically better: a 150 cm stand in a 1,2 m aisle is an obstacle.

    Practical notes

    • Reprint, do not replace. These frames outlive several graphics. Budget for the print, keep the hardware.

    • Carry bag included — padded on the premium models, which is what protects the cassette in transit.

    • Lead time depends on print, not on hardware. The frames are stock; the graphic is made to order.

    Alternatives

For occasional use a standard stand is the sensible spend. For an island position see double-sided stands, and for a matte, glare-free surface see fabric roll ups.

    Artwork

    • Scale: 1:1, minimum 150 dpi.

    • Colours: CMYK. Send Pantone references separately if an exact brand colour matters.

    • Fonts: converted to curves.

    • Files: TIFF, JPG or PDF.

    • Bleed: leave 40–60 mm extra at the bottom — that part rolls into the cassette and is never seen.

    Common questions

What am I paying extra for compared with a standard stand?

Three parts a photograph does not show. A heavier, deeper base, because the most common roll up failure is tipping rather than breaking. A damped retraction mechanism that pulls the graphic in slowly instead of snapping it back and creasing the edge. And a cassette designed to be reopened, so the frame carries a new print each campaign.

    Silver or black?

Silver is the default and disappears against most walls. Black reads as more premium against light backgrounds and photographs better in dark venues — worth choosing when the stand appears in the event photography.

When is premium not worth it?

If the stand goes up a handful of times for one campaign and is then discarded. At that usage the mechanism never gets tested and the money is better spent on the print.

    Which model goes widest?

Deluxe and Fondo reach 150 cm. The others stop at 120 cm. For a backdrop-width graphic those two are the only options here.
