SEG Displays vs Tube Tension Fabric Walls

DisplayProducts buying guides · Updated 14 October 2026

Compare SEG displays and tube tension fabric walls by the way the graphic attaches to the frame, the complete assembled footprint and the replacement-print specification. Both can create a substantial fabric display, but their panels are not interchangeable. Identify the intended frame system before ordering artwork or assuming that an existing print can be reused.

Match the complete frame, textile and replacement-graphic specification.

For an exhibition team, the useful question is which complete system fits the space and the event routine. Consider the visible message, installation, transport, lighting and future graphic changes together. A similar photograph does not establish that two products use the same construction.

The key difference is the graphic fixing

A tube tension fabric system typically uses an assembled tube structure with a fitted fabric sleeve or skin. The chosen graphic is made for the shape and dimensions of that structure. Closures and finishing vary by model, so check the selected system rather than assuming that every fabric display has the same zip or sleeve arrangement.

SEG means silicone edge graphics, a common industry term for a textile-edge mounting method. A flexible strip around the graphic fits into a compatible frame channel. The term describes the system family; it does not prove the material of every strip sold for compatible applications. The current DisplayProducts keder-roll variants are identified as PVC in their technical sheets.

Compare the complete footprint and shape

Tension Fabric Walls includes several wall shapes and widths. Check the chosen variant's assembled dimensions and support-foot arrangement. A curved or shaped wall can use floor space differently from a straight backdrop even when the nominal graphic width sounds similar.

NEO SEG Fabric Wall Systems provides a different frame and lighting concept. Compare the selected dimensions, supports and graphic faces against the venue's floor plan. An edge-mounted panel may provide a clean graphic face, but the profile and feet still occupy real space that must be included on the layout.

Lighting changes the graphic specification

A non-illuminated fabric wall and a backlit textile graphic are different print applications. SEG Lightboxes offers lightbox systems with their own construction and print requirements. Confirm whether the intended setup is single-sided or double-sided and which graphic media is specified.

Also check power availability, the cable route and how lighting components are handled during transport. Do not choose lighting only from a photograph of a bright display. Consider the surrounding venue lighting, the message and the actual installation position. The quote should state which lighting and electrical components are supplied.

Review installation as a team task

Ask how the specific frame is assembled and how the graphic is fitted. Some systems are described as tool-free, but the method and practical handling depend on the model and dimensions. Plan the people and working space required according to the supplied instructions. Do not convert a generic marketing description into a guaranteed setup time.

For a large fitted skin, check how the graphic is orientated before pulling it over the frame. For an edge-mounted graphic, identify the intended corners and the installation order. In either case, stop if the panel does not fit the identified structure instead of forcing the material or changing the frame to compensate.

Plan replacement graphics before the first purchase

If the display will support several campaigns, record the model, approved dimensions and template with the first order. Keep photographs of the assembled frame and the graphic attachment. The easiest repeat order is one where the supplier can identify the exact hardware rather than guess from a logo photograph.

For SEG replacements, include the edge-strip width, thickness and finishing specification. For a tube-frame graphic, identify the wall shape, closure and orientation. A print produced for one shape or edge system should not be assumed to fit another frame. If the existing graphic worked correctly, retain a labelled reference sample where practical.

Request a comparison of usable complete sets

Compare what is included in each proposal: frame, printed faces, supports, lights, accessories and transport. List any hardware you already own and ask whether it can be reused. Use the same floor plan and artwork scope for both offers so the comparison covers equivalent needs.

Send the display position, dimensions, event routine, lighting requirement and delivery date when asking for a recommendation. The SEG and Fabric Tension Displays category helps locate the current range. Use the keder width guide for edge-strip compatibility and the 3×3 stand layout guide to check the whole exhibition footprint.
