    Description

An easel is the display you buy when the graphic already exists and only needs somewhere to stand. Nothing to assemble, nothing to fix to a wall, and it moves in one hand.

    What it holds

Three legs give the stability and both holders adjust, so the same easel takes a small framed print and a large board without packing or improvising. It suits posters, information boards and framed prints, from lightweight boards up to larger frames. The lower shelf carries the weight and stops the panel creeping forward, which is the failure mode of a plain ledge — a board slides out over an afternoon and eventually goes over. Set the lower holder first so the panel is supported, then bring the upper holder down onto it. An easel gripping a board only at the top is a lever.

    Which finish

The four finishes exist for one reason: the easel should either match the room or disappear into it. Black and white are the neutral choices in a designed interior and in galleries, where the stand should not compete with what it holds. Natural timber suits cafés, food halls and craft brands, where the material is part of the look. Brown reads as traditional and sits well with darker joinery and older buildings. Structurally the four are identical, so the decision is entirely about the room.

Where it works — and where it does not

Events, fairs and conferences, offices, restaurants, schools and galleries — anywhere a display has to be prepared quickly and moved again. It is a poor choice in two places. A doorway or a corridor with real footfall, where a three-legged stand will be knocked into. And outdoors, where any easel is a sail. For a permanent sign, fix the panel to the wall; an easel earns its keep by being movable.

    Common questions

    What is it for?

Posters, information boards and framed prints that only need somewhere to stand — at events and fairs, and in offices, restaurants, schools and galleries.

    Is a three-legged easel stable?

Three legs sit flat on an uneven floor where four rock. The adjustable upper and lower holders grip the board at both edges, which is what keeps it in place.

    Which finish?

Black and white disappear into a modern interior, natural and brown read as traditional. In a gallery or a restaurant the easel is part of the display, so it is worth matching the room.
