    Description

An X-banner is the simplest way to get a printed graphic standing on a floor: a light X-shaped frame that clips into four eyelets in the corners of the print. It folds flat, weighs under a kilo, and fits in a shoulder bag.

    What it is good at

    • Travelling light. One person can carry three of them on a train. A roll up cassette cannot do that.

    • Cheap repeats. The graphic is a flat printed sheet with four eyelets, so a new one costs very little and the frame is reused indefinitely.

    • Quick setup. Under a minute, no mechanism to jam.

    What it is bad at

Stability. There is no weighted base — the frame’s own geometry holds it up, and a light X-banner will move in a draught or if someone brushes it. Outdoors it needs weighting or it will not stay put. It also has a visible frame on the printed face, and the graphic is under slight tension, so a very precise layout can look marginally stretched.

If the stand sits in one place for a season, a roll up is the better product. If it moves constantly and is set up by different people, the X-banner wins.

    Three options

    • Standard — 60, 80 and 120 cm. Steel-reinforced frame, the sturdier of the two builds.

    • Lite 60×160 and Lite 80×180 — fibreglass frame, under half a kilo. Cheapest and lightest; treat as a consumable.

    Artwork note

Print with four corner eyelets and keep important content at least 40 mm away from the corners — that area is where the frame pulls and where a logo will distort.

    Artwork

    • Scale: 1:1, minimum 150 dpi.

    • Colours: CMYK. Send Pantone references separately if an exact brand colour matters.

    • Fonts: converted to curves.

    • Files: TIFF, JPG or PDF.

    • Bleed: leave 40–60 mm extra at the bottom — that part rolls into the cassette and is never seen.

    Common questions

    X-banner or roll up?

X-banner if it moves constantly, is carried by different people and is set up in under a minute — one person can carry three on a train. Roll up if it stands in one place for a season, because it has a weighted base and an X-banner does not.

    Will it stay upright outdoors?

Not on its own. The frame's geometry holds it up and nothing weighs it down, so it needs weighting outdoors or in any draught. Indoors on a carpet it is fine.

    Standard or Lite?

Standard has a steel-reinforced frame and survives repeated setups. Lite is fibreglass, under half a kilo, and should be treated as a consumable.

How should the artwork be set up?

Flat print with four corner eyelets. Keep important content at least 40 mm from the corners — that is where the frame pulls and where a logo distorts.
