    Description

A flag pole is a long thin fibreglass tube travelling in a van full of other things. It bends, and once bent it never stands straight again. The transport bag is the cheap part of the order that protects the expensive part.

    Small or big

Two sizes. The small bag measures 100 × 20 cm and takes the shorter pole sets with the flag packed alongside. The big bag is for the long sets — the 4,5 and 5,5 m poles — and the flag that goes with them. Choose by the longest section in the set, not by the flag: the pole decides whether the bag closes. Where a fleet mixes both pole lengths, take the big bag and accept the slack rather than finding out on site that a section will not go in.

    Why polyester matters here

The bag is made of polyester, which shrugs off dirt and moisture and survives being dragged across a car park. That covers the two things that actually ruin flag kit: a wet flag packed away and left to sit, and grit working into a pole joint until the sections bind. A dry bag keeps the flag from mildewing between events and keeps the print from picking up marks that show when it is flown again.

    What it changes at pack-down

Flag kit disappears. Poles, base fittings and the flag itself end up in different corners of a store room unless something keeps them together, and the missing part is always found the morning of the next event. One bag per flag set turns the kit into a single object: grab it, load it, and count bags at the end of the day instead of counting parts. It also makes the flag someone’s responsibility, which loose poles never are.

    Common questions

Why bag a flag pole at all?

A fibreglass pole is long, thin and travelling in a van with everything else. Once it takes a set it never stands straight again, and a bent pole is visible in every photograph of the stand.

    Small or big?

The small bag is 100 x 20 cm and takes one pole with its flag. The big one is for the longer pole sets — check the packed length of your pole before choosing.

Does the flag travel in the same bag?

Yes. The bag is sized to hold the pole and its flag together, which also stops the two being separated between events.
