Two small parts that fix two common annoyances: a flag that wraps itself around its own pole, and a metal base that scratches a polished floor.
The rotor replaces the standard spigot in the base. With it fitted, the pole turns freely, so the flag swings to face downwind instead of twisting around the shaft. That is the difference between a printed flag that reads all day and one that spends the afternoon as a rag knotted around a pole. It also takes load off the assembly: a flag that can rotate stops fighting the wind, which reduces strain on the pole and extends the life of the whole system. The rotor for the cross base is made from stainless steel, so it is built for corrosion resistance and outdoor use rather than being a fair-weather part.
Order the rotor that matches the base you already own — the cross and square versions are not interchangeable, and this is the single most common ordering error on this page. Look at the base itself rather than the invoice: a cross base has four arms radiating from a central spigot, a square base is a solid slab. If the flags are permanently sited outdoors, a rotor per base is worth budgeting as standard rather than as an upgrade, because the failure it prevents is a pole, not a spigot.
The rubber feet fit under a square base and exist for one reason: any indoor floor you care about. Showroom laminate, shop tiles, a polished concrete foyer, a hotel lobby, a stand floor you have to hand back undamaged at the end of the event. A steel base dragged half a metre across that surface leaves a mark nobody will let you forget. The feet also stop the base creeping on a hard smooth floor when people brush past it. For outdoor tarmac or grass they add nothing, so buy them for the venues, not for the flags.
